• La Verne, Amandine, dressmaker en lire plus sur Who is Who
  Amandine La Verne, was the reason Catherine's mother Jacquette Legoix left her brother and went to live with Ermengarde de Châteauvillain - where she died after she had caught a terrible cold, without seeing her daugher Catherine again. Together with her husband Colin she was after his fortune.
  She was also arrested because of this deed, but able to escape. She watched the execution of her husband and swore to take terrible revenge on Catherine. Lured Catherine into a trap and wanted to bury her alive with the dead body of Colin, but not before Catherine had been raped by all of Robert de Sarrebrücks soldier. Catherine came only out alive of this hell, because of an old friend, beggar Jehan des Ecus.(she knew him from the time she lived in Dijon as a young girl) had gone for help to Messire de Roussay. Amandine La Verne died probably in the fire of the old mill.

  When Catherine meets him in the "Rue du Griffon" he is introduced to her and Loyse (her sister) as Amandine's brother. Month's after his wife had become Mâitre Mathieu's mistress, he came to live also in the "Rue du Griffon" where one day her uncle caught "brother and sister" in a "obvious" situation! Together they gave him a sort of "Belladonna-drink" - to keep him guiet until he would agree to marry Amandine La Verne. Died at her fortress - without seeing Catherine again.
